Every morning you wake up and start your day. Although this simple task is mundane, it plays a hefty role in your overall happiness that can last throughout the day. In order to start your day on the right foot and shed a little more positivity amongst society, here are a few tips on what you can do to wake up a happier human.

Prepare the Night Before
To avoid a morning rush, the “running late to work” stress, and simply enjoy a calm morning, prepare the night before! If you pack lunch each day, prepare it the night before so you can grab and go. Coffee drinker? Get a coffee maker you can program to a set brewing time and set it up every night before you sleep so that your coffee is hot and ready when you wake up. Another way to prepare the night before is to have your clothes for the next day laid out.

This pattern of preparing at night gives your brain less to manage in the morning. Before you go to bed, your brain is active and ready to wind down. Having a night before routine is the perfect plan!

Eat Breakfast
In no wasted breath, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If you know you’re waking up to a healthy, fulfilling breakfast each morning, it can make you a happier person when you wake up. Eating breakfast kick starts your metabolism and gives your body the restoration it needs after sleeping all night. Breakfast also gives you energy to make it through the day!

Go to Bed an Hour Earlier
You may already know this, but sleep is one of the most essential factors of health and happiness. Getting enough sleep can eliminate grogginess and give you the energy your body needs to wake up happy and have positive flowing throughout your day. In order to get enough sleep, try going to bed an hour earlier than you normally do.

Although falling asleep earlier than you normally do will be difficult, there are a few ways you can make it easier. Drink less caffeine in the afternoon and evening. This will help your body wind down quicker. Another rule of thumb is to create a “no-phone” policy in your bed. Experts say that using your phone in bed makes it harder to fall asleep.

Get Indoor Plants
Plants have so many benefits beyond standard home decor. Did you know that having plants in your home could make you happier? Not only do they purify your air, but they also have the ability to lower stress and anxiety levels. Having versatile plants in your home will definitely help you be a happier, healthier person.
